Exactly six months ago, Daniel Barenboim wrapped up a decades-long association with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with no plansto return here in any of his multiple capacities.
Yet Sunday afternoon, in a rather hastily arranged appearancewith his West-Eastern Divan Arab-Israeli orchestra, Barenboim walkedon to the stage of the Harris Theater to a hero's welcome and astanding ovation before a single note was played.
